PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti —
Off-responsibility law enforcement officers and their supporters exchanged fire for nearly two hours on Sunday with contributors of the newly reconstituted Haitian military in entrance of the nationwide palace, in a nasty escalation of protests over police pay and working stipulations.

On the least three law enforcement officers had been wounded, fellow officers told The Associated Press.

Associated Press journalists saw dozens of men who stated they had been off-responsibility officers march with hundreds of supporters in direction of the palace within the most modern in days of demonstrations traumatic better pay for Haitian law-enforcement officers.
